Approve registrations that need approval
Turn on approval for a ticket type, then approve or reject the people waiting.
Approval lets you vet people before they are confirmed. Useful for press passes, industry-only events, discounted student tickets, or anything where you want to see who is asking before you say yes.
Turning approval on
Approval is set per attendee type, not per person.
- Open Attendees and click Approvals.

Attendees page with the Approvals button - Registration approval lists your attendee types with a toggle each. Turn it on for the ones that need vetting.

You can also set this when you create the attendee type — see Create attendee types.
Approving people
- On Attendees, filter Status to Pending approval.
- Tick the people you want to let in.
- Use the bulk bar's Approve.
To turn someone down, set their status to Rejected instead — see Act on several attendees at once.
What happens next
Approved registrants move to Confirmed and get their confirmation email with a QR code, exactly as if they had registered normally.
Rejected registrants stay on the list with a Rejected status. They are not automatically emailed, so tell them yourself if you want them told.
Turning approval on for an attendee type does not retroactively un-approve people who already registered. It applies from that moment on. Turn it on before you publish, not after registrations start.
Common problems
Nobody appears under Pending approval. Either approval is off for every attendee type, or nobody has registered for a type that needs it.
People are being confirmed instantly when they should be waiting. The attendee type they picked does not have approval turned on. Check every type they could have chosen, not just the one you had in mind.
Someone approved by mistake. Set their status back with Edit an attendee's details — but note they already received a confirmation with a working QR code, so tell them directly too.
You want to approve on payment, not by hand. That is not what approval does. A paid ticket already confirms on successful payment; approval is a separate manual gate on top.
