Find and merge duplicate attendees
Scan for people registered twice and merge them into one record without losing history.
Duplicates happen: someone registers twice, an import overlaps a list you already had, or the same person books under a work and a personal address. Two badges get printed and your numbers are wrong.
Steps
- Open Attendees and click Duplicates.

Attendees page with the Duplicates button
- evenclo scans for people with the same email or the same name and lists them in groups under Possible duplicates.

- Review each group. Same-email matches are almost always genuine; same-name matches need a look — two different people really can both be called Ahmed Hassan.
- Merge a group, keeping the record you want to survive.
What merging keeps
Merging is additive, not destructive. The surviving record gets:
- All tags from both records, combined.
- The earliest check-in, so you never lose the fact that they arrived.
- All email history from both, so you can still see everything that was sent.
What happens next
The group becomes one attendee. Your counts drop accordingly, and only one badge prints.
Check for duplicates before printing badges and before the day, not after. Once two badges are printed and one has been scanned in, sorting it out at the door is far more disruptive than five minutes here.
Common problems
Two genuinely different people are grouped. Same name, different person. Leave them alone — nothing is merged until you choose to merge that group.
The same person is not detected. They used two different emails and spelled their name differently, so nothing matches. Find them by hand and merge, or delete the one with no check-in and no payment.
You merged the wrong pair. Merging cannot be undone. Rebuild the second record with Add an attendee manually — which is why exporting before a clean-up session is worth the ten seconds.
Nothing is listed but you know there are duplicates. The scan matches on email and name. Someone registered as "Mohammed A." and "Mohamed Ali" with two addresses will not surface.
