Create a discount code

Steps

1. Open Tickets and go to the Discounts tab.
2. Add a code and fill in:- Code — what people type. Short, memorable, no ambiguous characters.- Percentage or Fixed amount.- Value — 20 for 20%, or 200 for 200 off.- Max redemptions — how many times it can be used in total. Leave empty for unlimited.- Min order — a minimum order value before it applies.- Start and end dates.- Active — whether it works right now.

   

3. Save.

Writing a code people can actually type

Someone will read this off a slide, a poster, or a phone screen in a noisy room.

• Avoid 0/O and 1/I/l together.
• Keep it under about ten characters.
• Make it mean something: PARTNER20, SPEAKER100, CAIRO25.
• One code per channel — INSTA20, NEWSLETTER20 — so redemptions tell you which channel worked.

What happens next

Registrants enter the code at checkout and the total updates before they pay.

The code works when it is Active, inside its dates, under its redemption cap, and the order meets the minimum. All four must hold — a code that "does not work" is usually failing one of them.

Turning a code off

Untick Active. It stops working immediately. Orders already placed with it keep their discount.

Common problems

"Invalid code." Check all four conditions above, and check for a typo or a trailing space in the code itself. Codes are usually entered exactly as you set them, so test yours by registering.

The discount is smaller than expected. Percentage applies to the ticket price. If tax is exclusive, tax is calculated after the discount — the total moves less than the headline percentage suggests.

It worked for one person and not the next. The redemption cap is reached. Raise it or issue a second code.

You want a code for one specific person. Set Max redemptions to 1 and give it only to them.

You want a code limited to one ticket type. Not supported — codes apply to the order. Use attendee-type visibility to make a discounted ticket that only certain people can see. See Create a ticket type.
