Edit a question's label, options and validation
Change the wording, build the option list, set validation rules, and restrict a question to certain steps or attendee types.
Click any field in the Form fields list to open its settings.

Wording
Label — the question itself. Keep it short and plain: "Company", not "Please provide the name of your organisation".
Placeholder — faint example text inside the box. An example, not an instruction, because it vanishes as soon as they type.
Helper text — a line under the field that stays visible. This is where instructions belong. On a Consent field this becomes Consent text, shown above the tickbox — put your actual terms here.
Required — they cannot submit without answering.
Options, for list fields
Dropdown, Multi-select, Checkbox group and Radio buttons each need an option list. Each option has a label (what the registrant reads) and a value (what is stored).

Add and remove rows as needed.
Leave the value alone unless you have a reason. It only needs to differ from the label when you are matching another system's codes — and if you change a value after people have answered, the earlier answers keep the old one.
Validation
What is available depends on the type:
- Text and Long text — minimum and maximum length.
- Number — minimum and maximum value.
- Multi-select and Checkbox group — minimum and maximum number of selections.
- File upload — allowed file types and maximum file size in MB.
Keep these loose. A phone-number rule that rejects a legitimate international format costs you a registration and you will never hear about it.
Placing the question
Step — which step of the form it appears on. See Break your form into steps.
Attendee types — restrict it so only certain types are asked. This is how students get asked for a student ID and nobody else does.
A restricted question is blank in your export for everyone who was never asked it. That is correct, not a fault.
Arabic
Each field can carry an Arabic label, placeholder, helper text and options — see Translate your form into Arabic.
Common problems
Options do not appear on the public form. You did not save, or the field is restricted to an attendee type you are not testing as.
People cannot submit and will not say why. Test the form yourself end to end. It is almost always a required field on a later step, or a validation rule stricter than you intended.
File uploads keep failing. The file is over your maximum size, or its type is not allowed. Phone photos are routinely several MB — set the limit accordingly.
Changing a label rewrote history. It does not. Existing answers keep the wording they were given under; only new registrants see the new label.
