Send invitations by WhatsApp

Invite guests over WhatsApp instead of email, once your number is connected.

WhatsApp gets read. For regional events it often outperforms email substantially, particularly with guests who treat email as a work-only channel.

Before you can use it

The Send by WhatsApp button only appears once WhatsApp is connected for your event. If you cannot see it, that is why — see Connect WhatsApp to your event.

Your invitees also need a Phone (for WhatsApp) on their row, with a country code. Anyone without one cannot be sent to.

Steps

Open Invitations.
Tick the rows you want, or leave everything unticked to send to everyone not yet responded.
Click Send by WhatsApp.

Use both channels

Email and WhatsApp are not exclusive. A pattern that works well: email everyone first, then WhatsApp the people who have not responded after a week.

Do not send both at the same moment to the same person — it reads as pressure rather than diligence.

WhatsApp is a personal channel and people are less tolerant of unwanted messages there. Use it for guests who would expect to hear from you, not as a broadcast list. Complaints on WhatsApp can affect your number's standing with Meta, not just your reputation.

What happens next

Statuses update as people accept or decline, exactly as with email — see Track who accepted and declined.

Common problems

The button is not there. WhatsApp is not connected, or not enabled for this event. See Connect WhatsApp to your event.

Some people were skipped. No phone number on their row, or a number without a country code. Add it and resend to those rows.

Messages will not send at all. Message sending needs an approved template with Meta. See Before you can send WhatsApp messages.

A number is right but fails. It has no WhatsApp account, or it is a landline. Email those guests instead.

You want to change the message wording. WhatsApp message content comes from your approved templates, not the invitation email templates. See Create a WhatsApp message template.
