Create a survey and write its questions

Set up a feedback survey, add questions in the Form Builder, and open it when you are ready for answers.

Who can do thisowneradmin

A survey is a list of questions you send to attendees after the event — or during it. Answers come back to the Surveys page as charts and a CSV.

Create it

Open Surveys in the sidebar and click + New survey. Give it a name your team will recognise, like "Post-event feedback" or "Day 1 sessions". Attendees see this name at the top of the survey, so write it for them, not for your file system.

The survey starts as a draft. Nobody can open it yet, which is what you want while you are still writing the questions.

Write the questions

Click Edit questions. That opens the Form Builder on the Survey tab, with your new survey already selected — the same editor you use for the registration form and lead-capture questions, so drag-to-reorder and the Arabic panel work exactly as they do there.

Pick the survey you are editing from the dropdown at the top of the question list. Choose a question type, click + Add question, and fill in the label on the right.

The question types

Rating 1–5 — a row of numbered buttons. The best default for "how was the venue", "how was the catering". Results show an average and the spread.

NPS 0–10 — "how likely are you to recommend this event". Results show your Net Promoter Score: the percentage of promoters (9–10) minus the percentage of detractors (0–6). This is the number sponsors and boards ask for, so use the 0–10 scale rather than a rating out of 5 if that is what you are reporting.

Single choice — one option from a list. Multi choice — any number of them. Type the options one per line.

Yes / No — the fastest question to answer. Good for "would you come back".

Free text — an open box. Answers are listed verbatim on the results page. Powerful, but every one of them has to be read by a human, so keep it to one or two per survey.

Mark a question Required only if you would rather lose the whole response than miss that answer. Every required question is one more reason to close the tab.

Keep it short

Response rates fall off a cliff after about six questions. One rating, one NPS, one free-text "anything else" will get you more usable feedback than fifteen questions that three people finish.

Open it

Back on the Surveys page, set Status to Open and click Save. The survey now accepts answers.

Opens and Closes are optional. Set a Closes date if you want answers to stop on their own — a survey that stays open for months collects responses long after you have written the report.

Anonymous or not

Leave Anonymous off and each response is tied to the attendee who gave it, so you can see who said what and who has not answered yet. Turn it on and evenclo stores no link back to the person at all: you get the numbers and the comments, not the names. That is not a display setting you can undo later — the link is never written in the first place.

Choose anonymous when you are asking about something people will not answer honestly with their name on it. Choose named when you want to follow up, or send reminders to the people who have not replied.
