Design a badge template
Create a badge at true millimetre size and lay out what goes on it.

Every badge in evenclo is a template. A different badge for speakers is not a different feature — it is another template assigned to that attendee type.
Steps
- Open Badges.
- Create a new template and give it a Name.
- Set the Media — see Set badge size, bleed and safe margin.
- Add your elements — see Add text, QR codes, images and shapes.
- Save.

The canvas is at true millimetre size, so what you lay out is what prints.
What belongs on a badge
Badges are read across a room, by someone who has about a second. The most useful ones carry less than people expect.
Essential
- First name, large. The single most important thing on a badge. Bigger than you think — 24pt or more.
- Their organisation, smaller.
- A QR code, for check-in and for exhibitors scanning leads.
Usually worth it
- Attendee type, as a coloured band or word. This is how staff see at a glance who may enter which room.
- Your event logo, small.
Usually not
- Full postal addresses, phone numbers, long job titles.
- Anything you would not want photographed and posted.
Print one, put it in a lanyard holder, and stand three metres away. Most badge designs fail this test on the first attempt, and it takes two minutes.
Different badges for different people
Make one template per attendee type that needs to look different, then assign them — see Assign badges to attendee types.
Colour is the fastest differentiator. A speaker badge with a bold band is identifiable across a hall in a way that a small word is not.
What happens next
The template is available to assign, to test, and to print. It is not used for anyone until it is assigned to an attendee type or set as the Event default.
Common problems
Text is cut off when printed. It is outside the safe margin. See Set badge size, bleed and safe margin.
Names overflow. Design against your longest real name, not "John Smith". Sort your attendee export by name length and use the worst case.
The QR does not scan. Too small, or too close to the edge. Give it room and test with a real scan.
Nothing prints for some attendees. Their attendee type has no template assigned and there is no event default.
