Scan and save a lead
For exhibitors — scan a visitor's badge at your booth and save them as a lead.

This guide is for exhibitors. Organizers, see Turn on lead capture.
Steps
- Open the capture app and stay on the Capture tab.
- Point the camera at the visitor's badge QR code. If it will not scan, type the badge code and tap Find.

Lead capture app scanning a badge, with the manual code entry below - Their details appear.
- Rate and qualify them — see Rate and qualify a lead.
- Save the lead.
Ask before you scan
The visitor is handing you their contact details. Ask first.
Something as simple as *"Can I scan your badge so I can send you the details?"* is enough. Almost everyone says yes, and the ones who do not would have been a wasted follow-up anyway.
The organizer's consent reminder appears in the app — read it once and brief your staff on it.
Scanning someone who did not agree is the fastest way to generate a complaint to the event organizer, and it is their relationship with that attendee you are damaging. It also makes your follow-up email unwelcome before you have written it.
Scan in the moment
The habit that separates useful lead capture from a spreadsheet of names nobody follows up:
Scan while you are still talking, not later from a pile of business cards. The conversation is the context, and it is gone within five minutes.
Add a note immediately, even three words. "Wants pricing", "sending RFP March", "just browsing". Two weeks later, a name with no note is a cold contact.
Do not batch-scan a queue. Twenty leads with no context are worth less than five with real notes.
What happens next
Saved leads go to your My leads tab — see Review, edit and export your leads.
They also reach the organizer, who can see totals per booth.
If you have no signal, the lead is saved on the phone and syncs later — see Capture leads without a connection.
Common problems
The badge will not scan. Screen brightness is the usual cause — ask them to turn it up. A cracked screen or a heavy protector also scatters the code. Type the badge code instead.
"Not found." They may not be a registered attendee, or the badge is from a different event. Ask them to check at the registration desk.
The camera will not open. Permission was refused. Check your browser's site settings and reload.
You scanned the wrong person. Delete the lead from My leads.
The details shown are limited. The organizer decides which fields exhibitors receive. That is their call, not a fault.
