Steps

Open WhatsApp.
Click Connect with Facebook and complete Meta's sign-in, or verify and connect manually.

Once connected, choose the sending number.
Enable WhatsApp for this event.

Re-sync numbers refreshes the list if you add a number at Meta afterwards.

Before you start

You need a WhatsApp Business account through Meta, with a verified phone number, and a Meta Business account you administer.

Setting these up is done at Meta, not in evenclo, and business verification can take time. Start it well before you need it.

Choosing the sending number

The number you pick is what recipients see. It becomes your event's identity in WhatsApp, and people will reply to it.

Use a number someone monitors. People will reply. An unmonitored number is worse than no WhatsApp at all — it looks like you are ignoring them.
Not a personal mobile. It becomes public to everyone you message.
Keep it consistent across years. Recipients recognise it.

Decide who is answering replies before you send your first campaign. WhatsApp feels personal, so people respond to it far more than to email — often with questions your team needs to actually answer.

Enabling per event

Connection is at the account level; enabling is per event. So you connect once and switch it on for the events that use it.

Disconnecting

Disconnect unlinks the account. Do this if you change Meta accounts or stop using WhatsApp — not as a troubleshooting step, since reconnecting means going through Meta again.

What happens next

Connecting is only the first requirement. You still need an approved template before anything can be sent — see Before you can send WhatsApp messages.

Once connected, WhatsApp also appears as a channel on the Invitations page.

Common problems

Connecting fails. Your Meta account may lack the right permissions, or your business is not verified. Both are resolved at Meta.

No numbers listed. No verified number on the WhatsApp Business account. Add it at Meta, then Re-sync numbers.

Connected but nothing can be sent. You need an approved template.

The connection stopped working. Access tokens from Meta expire. Reconnect, and contact support if it recurs.

WhatsApp is missing on the Invitations page. It is not enabled for this event.
