What the check-in messages mean
Every warning the door can show you, what it means, and what to do about it.

Sometimes a scan shows a message instead of checking someone in. All of them are deliberate. Print this section and put it on the desk.
Already checked in
They have scanned before. Either a duplicate scan, or a genuine second attempt — someone stepping out for a call and coming back.
Do: let them through. Nothing is broken.
Already checked out
They were checked out and have scanned again in the OUT direction.
Do: switch the toggle to IN and scan again. Usually the lane was left on OUT.
Never checked in
They were scanned in the OUT direction without ever having been checked in.
Do: switch to IN and scan again.
Ticket cancelled — blocked
Their registration is Cancelled. This blocks entry on purpose.
Do: find out why. If they cancelled and changed their mind, or if it was cancelled in error, set them back to Confirmed with Edit an attendee's details and scan again. If they were refunded and are not entitled to be there, that is a conversation, not a scan.
Ticket rejected — blocked
Their approval request was turned down. Also blocked on purpose.
Do: do not override at the door unless you know the decision was wrong. Refer to whoever made it.
Was waitlisted
They registered after the ticket sold out and were never confirmed.
Do: a judgement call about capacity. If you have room, set them to Confirmed and let them in. If you do not, this is why the message exists.
Re-entry denied
Re-entry is turned off for this event, and they have already been in and out.
Do: if that is your policy, it is working. If it should not apply to this person, an owner or admin can check them in from the attendee list.
The habit that prevents most of these
Two things:
Watch the direction toggle. IN versus OUT causes more confused messages than everything else combined.
Give door staff a script. They should know which messages mean "let them through" (already checked in) and which mean "call a supervisor" (cancelled, rejected). Deciding in the moment with twenty people waiting goes badly.
Common problems
Everyone is showing "already checked in" from the start. Someone bulk-checked-in the list in advance. Undo it — see Check someone in from the attendee list.
A blocked message on someone who definitely should be in. Look at their status on the attendee list. Cancelled and Rejected both block, and both are set deliberately by someone.
Nothing happens at all — no check-in, no message. Not a status problem. The device has lost its connection; check the wifi.
