Add images to a section
Upload or link an image, and size it so your site does not crawl on mobile data.
Steps
- Open Page editor and select the section.
- On the Content tab, find the image field.
- Upload a file, or paste an image URL.

Page editor content tab with an image field showing upload and URL options - To remove one, clear the field.
Sizing before you upload
This is the most common way an event site ends up slow, and it costs you registrations on mobile data.
A photo straight off a phone or a camera is 4–12 MB. On a page it needs to be a few hundred kilobytes at most.
Rough targets:
| Use | Width | Aim for |
|---|---|---|
| Full-width hero or cover | 2000px | under 400 KB |
| Section or card image | 1200px | under 200 KB |
| Speaker or profile photo | 600px | under 100 KB |
| Logo | 400px | under 50 KB |
Resize and compress before uploading. Any free image compressor will get a photo under 300 KB with no visible difference.
Five unoptimised photos is a 30 MB homepage. On a phone over mobile data that is ten seconds of blank screen, and most people will not wait. This single issue does more damage to event sites than any design decision.
What makes a good event photograph
- Real photographs of your event, not stock. People want to see the room they will be standing in.
- People in them. An empty venue sells nothing.
- Landscape for wide sections; portrait crops badly.
- Keep the important part central. Sections crop differently on mobile, and the edges go first.
Logos
PNG with a transparent background for anything sitting on a coloured surface. A JPEG logo brings a white box with it.
For sponsor logos, standardise them: same height, transparent backgrounds, similar visual weight. A row of mismatched logos looks careless and sponsors notice.
What happens next
Uploaded images are hosted for you and served from your event's pages. They appear in the preview immediately and go live when you publish.
Common problems
The image is cropped oddly. Sections crop to fit their shape. Keep the subject central, or use an image closer to the section's aspect ratio.
The page is slow. Unoptimised images, almost always. Check the file sizes you uploaded.
A logo has a white box around it. It is a JPEG. Use a PNG with transparency.
A pasted URL shows nothing. The link must be to the image file itself, ending in .jpg or .png — not to a page containing the image. Uploading is more reliable.
It looks blurry on a good screen. Too small. Upload roughly twice the display width.
